Going ahead with the connectivity of Dwarka expressway and NH-8, Huda authorities on Saturday, razed quite a few constructions in Kherki Daula village. A part of Dwarka expressway was waiting completion in Kherki Daula because of the delay in the clearing of structures that were hindering the connectivity of the expressway with NH-8.

Beginning January 8, the engineering division of Huda will begin moving away debris to flatten the ground. Huda is in the process of transforming this approximately 500 metres of expanse of the route and prepare it for the flow of traffic in the coming two weeks. After completion of this work, traffic movement will begin from Dwarka expressway to NH-8 near Kherki Daula toll plaza.

Huda has been able to finish with the razing campaign unhindered, supported by the heavy police force. The city development association razed down a poultry farm sprawling across 2 acres of the area, two storehouses covering almost 2 acres of land and six bordering structures of unoccupied plots. “With this, we have cleared the way for movement of vehicles on this stretch,” said sub-divisional-officer (SDO) of Huda, HS Jakhad. Additionally, 38 houses besides the route have been given a 10-day deadline to clear way for the construction.

Huda Administrator, Yashpal Yadav stated, “For the time being we will construct a temporary road on this stretch for the movement of the vehicles. Small vehicles can move on this stretch very soon.”

The Huda authorities had shortlisted 212 allottees entitled for resettlement and distributed allotment letters to 148 of them in Sector 110A and Sector 37C. Nevertheless, nearly 64 of the evicted people are possessors of General Power of Attorney (GPA) and Special Power of Attorney (SPA) and their hopes of resettlement are entirely dependent on the Punjab and Haryana high court. The next trial on the case pertaining to the rehabilitation of GPA will be held in January 8.

NHAI has given a new affiliation to the expressway after announcing it as a national highway in 2017. The primary outlying road is now a division of the expressway. However, the previous conjunction running through Kherki Daula will hold up as a transient connecting link between the expressway and NH-8. Once the expressway is ready and geared up for activity, the avenue going through Kherki Daula village will start functioning as a link road for sectors 83 and 84 with NH-8.
