The trial run of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro took off on January 2, 2018. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Mangu Singh flagged off the enterprising project to connect the twin cities via Metro rail.

Following a short ritualistic ceremony, the MD flagged off the test operation In Noida. Present at the event were, Chief Executive Officer and Noida Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Alok Tandon and other senior members of staff of DMRC.

In the beginning, the metro will run on the route between Greater Noida Depot and Knowledge Park 2 metro station, which is a distance of approximately 6 km, till the tests are cleared and acknowledged officially. This was stated in an official release.

The release also mentioned that the entire stretch of this metro link is 29.07 km and is known as the Noida-Greater Noida Metro Rail corridor. It covers 21 metro stations along this stretch, with the starting point as Noida Sector 71 in Noida and the terminating station as Delta Depot in Greater Noida.

The cog railroad of this corridor is being purchased from CRRC Limited, a state-owned Chinese fabricator. DMRC had inked a MoU in favor of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) Ltd with CRRC Corporation Limited in March 2016.

CRRC’s Nanjing Plant is manufacturing the standard gauge trains. The train having 4 coaches had reached Greater Noida on 14th December 2017. Fundamental motility tests and evaluations were carried out all through the last fortnight.

The train has been patterned with ‘Aqua Blue’ as its color composition. Every train consists of four coaches that are capacitated to seat 186 passengers. Around 1,000 passengers (seated and standing) can travel at a time in the train, in its loaded state.

A count of 19 train sets (i.e., 76 coaches) will play through the corridor. The trains are to turn up every two weeks, as stated in the release.

Every train consists of two driving trailer cars and two motor cars with a total seating capacity of 43 and 50 in both, respectively. There are inbuilt cellphone and USB charger ports, 6 backlit LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays) and 4 Dynamic Route Maps in every coach.

There is provision of a reserved space for wheel chair supported passengers in Driving Trailer cars at the two endpoints of the train, it added.

The Civil Work of this 29.7 km long standard gauge channel with 21 stations culminated in November 2017 with the setting up of the final girder.

At the time of the trial run, the train will through stringent signal testing. During testing and the trial runs, the interface of the Metro train will be checked to ascertain that there is no physical infraction with the civil substructure in the course of running of the train through the corridor and also various subsystems of coaches will go through grueling tests.

It has been mutually decided between Noida and Greater Noida Authorities that they will have their own Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), collaboratively financed by authorities of both the cities, titled NMRC.

After the trial run and technical green signal, the Metro service will be launched for use by the general public. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is likely inaugurate it, as mentioned in the release.
